Hi
everyone!
There are
some mentionings across the internet that this klettersteig is possible in
winter (due to it’s south facing aspect and steepness), so I’d like to go have
a look at it 😊
It's long, steep and exposed, but not very technical with a moderate grade of B/C. However this might be exacerbated if there is much snow or ice on the route. Please make sure you are comfortable with this before joining.
Logistics:
- We meet in Lermoos (reachable
by train RE62 from Munich) at 9:00am, from where we can take my car to Haiming.
Alternatively you can take your own transport and we meet in Haiming at
the parking lot.
- From here we will climb approx.
2,5 hours to the top of the klettersteig
- The descent is the crux of the
route apparently, so in winter it’s recommended to go back down over the
klettersteig again. You should be comfortable downclimbing
- We should be back at the car
around 15:00 at the latest after which we'll drive back to Lermoos, or a
pizza place first ;)
GEAR:
- Klettersteig gear (helmet,
harness & klettersteig set are mandatory! Please also bring good
grippy gloves since the cables might be icy and cold.
- Crampons might be needed if
there is ice on the route. If you sign up, please bring them and be familiar with using them on mixed terrain (rock/snow & ice).
- I’ll bring an iceaxe to dig the
cables out of the snow if that is needed. If you have one you can bring
one as well.
- Water & food (there are no
huts on the way)
I will make
a whatsapp group to discuss the logistics further, so please send me
your number as soon as you sign up for the event! If i haven't hiked
with you before I might ask you some questions about your experience in the
mountains :)
P.s. standard disclaimers apply; this might be a stupid idea and i'm not a mountainguide, so everyone is responsible for him/herself ;)
