I'm taking snowshoes. It's quite possible we won't need snowshoes at the very beginning and end, once we're back in the valley. 

The tour looks quite long. You are free to take the cable car down from Holzegg after 12km and the bus to Alpthal which saves quite some kilometers of hiking.
