Snowshoe round trip in Melchsee-Frutt

Above the car-free sun terrace Melchsee-Frutt, the snowshoe trail on the Gummen promises magnificent views of the Central Swiss and Bernese Alps. Even though there may be a few clouds it should still be sunny.

Our track will be a combination of https://schweizmobil.ch/en/snowshoe-trekking/route-790 and https://schweizmobil.ch/en/snowshoe-trekking/route-791 

Difficulty: WT2

Pace: moderate pace which will be suitable for everyone, no previous experience on snowshoes required. 

Meeting point and time: Melchsee-Frutt (Bergstation)

If you come by car, there is parking in Stöckalp at the valley station. The gondola return ticket with Halbtax is 21.50 CHF.

If you come by train from Zurich HB there is a connection leaving 8:10 and arriving in Melchsee-Frutt Bergstation  10:16

Equipment: snowshoes and poles! Please note, if you need to rent snowshoes there is a rental place in Melchsee-Frutt, but online reservation is not possible on 24th. Therefore please organize rent of snowshoes before travelling to Melchsee-Frutt. It should be possible to rent locally e.g. in Transa, Bächli, etc In case it is impossible for you to rent local I do have one spare pair of snowshoes available. If you want them please write in the comments section.

In addition: good hiking boots, water, lunch & snacks, sun protection (cap & sunscreen), clothing according to the weather (take layers).
