Wank (1780 m) is one of the most visited mountains in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The hike is easy in general.

Ascent: The hike starts from Farchant and after following a forest road, you will quickly arrive on a path which goes through forest. The views of Farchant is amazing. Soon the trail merges into a forest road. Soon you will arrive at a sign post to wank. The trail goes through forest and is steep. But the views of Estergbirge and Soierngruppe is breathtaking. After walking about 1 hour, you will arrive at wank.

Descent: For the descent follow the same trail as ascent for 10 min and then walk up to Eckenberg, and follow the trail from there to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The trail is going through forest and some parts are steep and also slippery in winter. However, the trail has the best views of Wetterstein mountains, including Zugspitze, Alpspitze, Waxenstein etc. It took us 2.5 hours from wank to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Technical Difficulty: This hike is NOT suitable for a first timer. We aim to have a normal pace around 300m gain/hour.
