Description

[Update 07.02.2026] https://chat.whatsapp.com/I12OPTknTWR6Ff59ocdvit?mode=gi_t

It is one of those hikes where I make you take a loooonnggg walk! This time we walk around Ammersee. I am assuming it is going to be cold. Who cares! We hike anyway🤪.

I would like to get into long-distance hiking and also do a Megamarsch this year. So, this is my 1st 45 km+ route without much elevation gain. I mainly do this to check which shoes to wear, how my body reacts, what food to eat, and so on. As it is Winter, we keep it short and cold. It is one of those experimental hikes 😋. This is a modified version of Irina's gpx which is 50 km+ and 500 m+ elevation gain. So, this can be treated as step-1 and upon successful completion of the event, we can target Irina's route as step-2.

Disclaimer:

Everyone is responsible for themselves.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Important:

  • Don't run! 😑 It is more of an endurance event than a sprint. If you start running, please keep running and don't turn back 🤪
  • If the weather turns to worse/ if there is too much snow or ice on the route. I reserve the right to cancel/postpone the event.
  • Please only join if you are confident that you can do 40 km in one day. The rest of the 5-6 km we can suffer together 😝
  • I don't know how long it would take, but I intend to finish the whole route before 21:00.
  • Speed will be approximately 5 km/h for the whole route.
  • Please bring food and water for the whole day. We will not stop in any hut along the way. A small kiosk break is of course permitted at some point along the route.
  • The link to a WhatsApp group will be posted in the comments section on Saturday evening (07.02.2026). Please join the group to get the latest updates. I will enable admin approval for better security.

Things to bring:

  1. A good mood and a smiling face 😁 (Non-negotiable! No grumpies allowed!)
  2. ID proof and emergency contact details 🙏 (please place this safely in your backpack. You don't have to share it with the organizer out of privacy concerns, but it must be in your backpack/wallet for emergencies)
  3. Deutschland ticket (please buy a ticket if you don't have one)
  4. Enough water (~2 liters)
  5. Proper shoes (if you value your feet)
  6. Proper clothes (please look at the weather, and dress accordingly, be prepared for cold)

Hi Chid, I saw your event and just wanted to share a small update /a few tips for your upcoming long-distance walk: - about half of the public toilets along the Ammersee promenade were closed. I know for men it’s usually less of an issue, but for us, ladies, it can be important) - kiosks were not open (maybe on weekend you will be more lucky), so I’d recommend bringing some hot drinks with you as well (tea/coffee). - the section between Dießen and Fischen is along a road with quite a bit of traffic and no sidewalk. We went through the fields/moor instead – there was a bit of snow, but it was totally fine.

- if you’re planning to go to Kloster Andechs after completing the loop: from Herrsching there’s still some elevation, and those stairs up to the monastery after 50 km are… a bit masochistic 😄, but 🍺 is well known as a good isotonic. - headlamp after sunset was super useful. Also: blister plasters and extra socks are always good to have for long distances. Magnesium (against muscle cramps) and some fast sugar can help as well. Wishing you all a great walk! Sei stark – you can do it! 💪🥾 🏁

[Update 1] Hello participants 😊I have modified the gpx by taking into account the info given by Irina and Igor. It adds an additional ~2 kms to the total route.
