Mountains always inspire me — so many things you see on the way to the peak.
Over the past few years, I’ve noticed many stones along the trails with beautiful drawings, words, stickers, statements, memorials, etc. = Glückssteine (lucky stones). Sometimes they are hidden, sometimes they can be found at the summit cross or inside the Gipfelbuch box.
I started wondering about the idea behind them and even found some groups where people post their discoveries and describe the places where a Glücksstein was found. So these lovely stones travel from place to place, from peak to peak, from hut to hut. Of course, not by themselves — but with people.
My absolute favorite discovery happened recently on Kleiner Galtenberg, where we found a Glücksstein with a cute unicorn on it (it was in the snow and ice, so only foto was taken and 🦄 left alone 😔😢)...
... now to the point: I would like to go on a hike and bring a few Glückssteine to some summit crosses. If you find one of them later, feel free to take it and bring it to another place (ideally to another peak — I think they’ll be happier in the mountains 😉).
I’ve already prepared some stones with an acrylic base, so we can write something on them with special markers. Think about your statement! We’ll have a little art-therapy session on the train or at one of the peaks.
If we have time (we still have some sporty goals to achieve))), we can celebrate International Women’s Day either at a mountain hut or with tea, coffee, and some sweets during the hike.
I’m relaxed about timing — there’s a bus and train back to Munich every hour.
