Description

The Kreuzspitze is the tallest peak in the German part of the Ammergau Alps and the so called Kreuzspitz subgroup. The peaks within that group are formed from very loose rock-formations. The route includes a short scrambling section (I), not exposed.

This will be a tour with max T4 except for a single T6 crux between the two peaks. We will see if the group is fit for the crux and seek out alternatives. (e.g. return with the same route)

Technical Difficulty: This hike is NOT suitable for beginners. You should have experience with exposed alpine terrain and free of fear of height. We aim to have a normal pace around 350m gain/hour. If you are a very fast hiker (450m gain /hour+), please consider the possibility that you may need to wait up for the group from time to time. If that´s ok for you, welcome to join us :)

Transport: We will go by car as the starting point is not easily accessible by public transport. The driver(s) may require passengers to pay in advance. Please read the car instructions carefully. If the hike or lift is cancelled or postponed, the drivers must reimburse the prepaid payments. Otherwise a passenger dropping out before departure must only be reimbursed if the driver can find a replacement. Car drivers must contact me first if they drop out.

Joining: Click on carpool. If a car has free seats, read the instructions and possibly join the car. Otherwise add yourself to the waiting list and regularly check for free seats. You are not automatically assigned to a car. If a car is deleted, you must add yourself to the waiting list again.

Legal disclaimer: This is not a guided tour. I merely organize the trip to the starting point with people who are properly equipped and experienced with Alpine terrain. Every participant must be able to navigate her/himself on the suggested route. If you join, you acknowledge that you are aware of the risks associated with this hike, you are fully responsible for yourself and that you have sufficient insurance (DAV, Bergrettung or similar).
