Motivational images at this webcam from Seefelder Joch.
A few participation rules meant to keep the experience enjoyable for everyone:
- 400 vertical meters per hour. You need to be 1000% sure what that means and you need to be 1000% sure you are able to do it as an average, over many hours, including breaks, on a warm sunny day and without feeling at the limit.
- Have a minimum of 2 liters of water at the trailhead. That means not when you leave home but when we start the hike.
- You should have done several T4 hikes before and several hikes with more than 1200m elevation gain/loss.
Transport:
RB6 at 7:29 from Munich Hbf arriving at Seefeld at 9:56
We need to pay for the Austrian side. In the OBB app it is 4.7 EUR one way
To return we aim to catch the train at either 18:04 or 19:15
Pace/Trail:
There are patches of snow at higher altitude.
There is a T4 section with cables around Reither Spitze so please be comfortable with that.
If you have pressing post-hike commitments in Munich this hike is not for you. We will not rush to return early.
We aim to hike as a group at the mentioned pace of about 400 vertical meters per hour.
Nördlinger Hutte should be open for the first day this year. We aim to stop there. That being said, please be self sufficient and do not rely on hut stops as various unpredictable things can happen.
