Description

*Please read the entire description and all instructions below before you join*

Kampenwand is landmark of the Chiemgau Alps with famous viev from the east peak coronated with rocks.
Depending on the current conditions, we will decide at Steinlingalm whether we should try to reach the east peak of Kampenwand or not. That will take at least additional 30 minutes but may not be suitable for all of us, since this part of the hike is more dificult than the rest (T3, see technical difficulty below). Alternatively, if we have enough of time after reaching Steinlingalm, we may go to SonnenAlm. That will need approximately extra 30 minutes to the route visible in this event, too.
We will have a break in one of the huts on the way, however, always have some food & drinks with you.

Have a look at the following examples of similar routes and pictures to have an idea:

My hiking doggy is joining.

Good to know

Technical difficulty:

If you prefer fast pace, you may consider another event.
Planned elevation is between 900-1000m. The hike without the peak is T2/T1, meaning technically easy. However, you should have a reasonable fitness level and be able to walk with the group.
If we decide to do the peak, it is T3. The exposed part at the end of the way to the peak requires no vertigo and surefootedness (chains are available at some places).

Planning

07:20 - Meeting in front of Starbucks at the Platform 11 Munich HBF. Don't be late! ;)
07:56 - Train M 79011 to Prien, then RB 27559 to Aschau
09:30 - Start hiking
17:46  / 18:46 - Train to Munich
Travel with the train takes approx. 1h25min each way.

What to bring:

- hiking boots - no sneakers allowed!
- food and drinks
- warm clothes, hut, thin gloves - whatever is appropirate for you (it may be cool at the higher parts)
- torch / head lighting (I don't plan hiking after it gets dark but the days are short now, so it's good to have it just in case)
- GPS route saved offline
- it's strongly recommended to have DAV membership or insurance covering accidents in the mountains

There will be probably no snow on the way, weather forecast looks very good as of today but be prepared for any conditions and have some warm clothes with you.
Check the weather forecast e.g. at Bergfex but remember that weather conditions may change any time in the mountains.

Cost per person:

- Train ticket (Bayern-Ticket): between 10-14€ per person (bring coins!)
- I will arrange the tickets for our entire group and we share the costs
