Description

UPDATE: The tour is postponed (again) to Sun Sept 16th due to bad weather. Please update your status.

Maximum participants: limited by the available cars. If you go by public transport, you'll only be able to finish the shorter routes.

Read the instructions, too!

Meeting in Schönau am Königssee: parking lot Jennerbahnstr. 1, at ca 8:20 AM

Meeting in Munich (carpools)Carpool planning (please sign up as driver or passenger/waitlist) departure at about 6:30 AM

Meeting in Munich (train, late arrival!): requires a co-organizer Ostbahnhof platform 8 stairs (north) at 6:20 AM; buy Bayern tickets; take the train RJ265 (6:33) to Salzburg (7:58); Bus 840 (8:15) to Berchtesgarden (9:04); Bus 841 (9:15) to Jennerbahn (9:25). The last bus to Munich departs at 18:55 from Jennerbahn, or 22:10 from Berchtesgarden (4.4km away)!

Return to Munich: as participants walk at their own pace and might quit early, they could arrive at the parking lot at very different times. We will try to arrange to have cars returning earlier and later. You can put your stuff in the lockers at the parking lot in order to be independent of the car.

TransportWe try go by car, as it would take 3h with the train/bus. We will split the costs.

This is a very long and demanding hike over "two and a half" mountains, with the possibility to quit early after 1/2 (Saletalm) or 2/3 (St.Bartholomä) the distance and to return by boat.

The full tour requires very good fitness and takes about 12-13h. It is recommended  to walk at your own optimal pace, and not to take breaks longer than 5mins as your muscles might stiffen otherwise. Keep moving all the time!

If you quit early, note that the last boat departs at 18:10 (Salet) and 18:30 (St.Bartholomä). see http://www.seenschifffahrt.de/fileadmin/daten/downloads/koenigssee/KS_aktueller_Fahrplan_Sommer.pdf

See route details for the exact route.

Disclaimer: This is NOT a guided tour. You are responsible for yourself.

Technical Difficulty: This hike is NOT suitable for beginners. You have to be surefooted and no fear of heights. Also, you need a very good stamina.

Note: Please unjoin the event well in advance, if you don't want to come. You cannot unjoin the event when it is starting in less than 12 hours.
