Description

One of the highlights of this Hike...just before the peak, the path leads to a large viewing platform high above the Königssee offering breathtaking views of the lake 1200m below and the nearyby mighty (2500m+) mountains such as Watzmann, Hochkönig, Höher Göll etc. We will be skipping the small Kletterteig Section, hence you need not bring a set.

There's a Panoramarestaruant Jenneralm at 1800m, some 10 mins away from the peak. If we maintain a good pace, and if most of us agree, we can stop here for lunch/drinks and also later cover a short hike either to Königsbach (waterfall & natural pool) or Rabenwand (Insta HotSpot) on the way back. Thus, spontaneity will be welcome :)

Technical difficulty: The hike has difficulty T3. Please read the blog to understand the requirements for sac scale T3. Our pace might be slow as a beginner-level Hiker (my guest for the long weekend) will be accompanying us.

Good to know

Things to bring:

  • protective face mask and hand sanitizer
  • hiking boots
  • hiking poles (optional)
  • hat, sun-screen, sunglasses
  • enough cash
  • Food/drinks for the way
  • Although the weather forecast is good, some tolerance for cloudy and rainy weather
  • Most importantly....good mood

Note: Please unjoin the event well in advance, if you don't plan to come. You cannot unjoin the event, when it is starting in less than 12 hours. Please obey all COVID-19 imposed restrictions.

Please be aware that the national park is currently asking people again to not go to the waterfall anymore. It's dangerous and people leave a lot of damaged nature as well as waste behind. Please try and respect that.
