Hike Description
Hidden deep in the Senderstal valley in Stubai Alps, are the Kalkkögel - a group of rugged gray-blue limestone giants in the middle of rubble giants, deep crevices in the rock, mountain pine topping. The North Tyrol Dolomites. Impressive! There is a lake reflecting them, Salfeinersee. And here we go on the way to several more peaks above 2000m on a very scenical but technically easy route.
We first cross the bridge over the Sendersbach and first follow the steep road uphill, from which a steep climb branches off towards Salfains Alm / See
The view includes Inntal, Innsbruck, Nordkette, Axamer Litzum, Sellrainer Berge, Zugspitze but the view of the Kalkkögel beats everything!
From the lake (or what is left of it) the path leads upwards and partly along the ridge to the Grieskogel 2158m, which you can easily climb over its grassy flank. Soak up the panorama and get annoyed for not having more time. From here we take the way to Breitschwemmkogel 2260m, Angerbergkopf 2399m and the Schaflegerkopf 2405m along the ridge before descending into the valley to our cars. We can have a meal or a drink at Kemateralm in the way back.
