Description
Let's use a weekday (less tourists) and the first Friday of summer to hike in one of the most beautiful areas in Germany.

We'll take one of the first boats (9:00) to travel to the other end of Königssee (Salet). Then we pass by Obersee, Fischunkelalm, Germany's tallest waterfall, Wasseralm, the viewpoint Halsköpfl, Grünsee, and optionally the coldest place in Germany - Funtensee, and return to Salet. There we take the last boat at 17:40. Don't make plans for the evening.

We will buy the tickets at the ticket office. We should buy our boat tickets (two-way is 20,5€) online on Thursday https://www.seenschifffahrt.de/de/koenigssee/

The hike will be postponed if the weather is not good.

Technical Difficulty: This hike is NOT suitable for beginners. You have to be absolutely surefooted and no fear of heights. You should have above average pace (>500m gain/hour) and stamina, and walking speed of about 6km/h in the flat parts. 

Transport: We will go by car as the starting point is not easily accessible by public transport. Due to Kontaktbeschränkung only two persons per seat row are allowed in each car. The driver(s) may require passengers to pay in advance. Please read the car instructions carefully. If the hike or lift is cancelled or postponed, the drivers must reimburse the prepaid payments. Otherwise a passenger dropping out before departure must only be reimbursed if the driver can find a replacement. Car drivers must contact me first if they drop out.

Joining: Click on carpool. If a car has free seats, read the instructions and possibly join the car. Otherwise add yourself to the waiting list and regularly check for free seats. You are not automatically assigned to a car.

Legal disclaimer: This is not a guided tour. I merely organize the trip to the starting point with like-minded, qualified, properly equipped and reliable persons. Every participant must be able to navigate her/himself on the suggested route. If you join, you acknowledge that hiking is dangerous, you are fully responsible for yourself and that you have sufficient insurance (DAV, Bergrettung or similar).

Things to bring (mandatory):

  • water proof hiking shoes or boots
  • a rainjacket
  • a mask or other nose-mouth cover for the boat/hut
  • water for a warm sunny day (min. 2l, reservoir recommended)
  • snacks
  • charged smartphone, emergency no 112 saved, optionally powerbank
  • sun glasses, sunscreen

Optional:

  • poles
  • swimming suit if you want to swim in the lakes
Note: Please unjoin the event well in advance, if you don't want to come. You cannot unjoin the event when it is starting in less than 12 hours.

the weather forecasts change every day. we'll probably decide on Wednesday evening whether the hike will be postponed. a possible alternative date is Sunday.

at the moment the forecast looks good, with sunshine except for a possible light thunderstorm around noon and rain after 9pm. On Thursday noon I'll let you know whether to buy boat tickets.

update: there is a new construction site on the road which might lead to delays. Therefore we start earlier 6:50 and ask all passengers for both cars to come to SBahn Unterhaching (S3, zone M, arrival 6:44) at parking lot Edeka on the east side - use the rear end of the train. That way we could avoid possible traffic jam and ensure we arrive in time. If you arrive earlier, there's a Cafe Fiegert nearby. As for the boat tickes, I now think we should rather all buy them at the ticket office so that we can all stay together and are more flexible.
