Description

This hike is long and not suitable for beginners. Since we will have to catch the last bus, you must be able to walk with a pace of 400m. elevation gain/hour.

On Sunday, we will walk from Risstal via the Schafreuter summit to Fall. Since the starting point of the hike is in Austria (only 1 km behind the border), you should take your pass.

The hut is closed.please bring sufficient food and drinks.

Bayern ticket covers the cost until the Oswaldhütte. Our starting point is the first stop after the border, so we may pay additional fee for the last 1-2 km.

Further remarks 1- On Saturday we can not be slow because we must catch the last bus. I am sorry to say that but if you can not walk with a pace of 400 Hm/hour, please don´t join the hike. 2- Depending on the weather I may change the date of the hike . Currently the forecast looks fine, cloudy but no rain. 3- On the way to Fall, we may have to cross the creek. There was /is a bridge which is not in a stable status now. Thus you should have spare socks, water-resistant boots. (Indeed you can take off the boots whilst crossing the creek, it is up to you)

Dear all, I know this started becoming disappointing. Sorry , but I decided to postpone this hike one more time. The reason is a broken bridge on the creek. Below you can read the details. For those who want to hike on Saturday I will create another hike requiring almost the same effort. I will then inform all participants of this hike via email. Krottenbachtal is a nice route but since last year the bridge we should pass is "defect". As you can see in the following link, under normal conditions passing the creek under the bridge wouldn´t be a problem. However today and tomorrow (till noon) heavy rain is expected which may make the passage more challenging. Since we will also have a time constraint (i.e. catching the last bus) I don´t want to take risk of being blocked. . Hope this will be my last comment on this hike. The hike to Schafreuter has been postponed. As an alternative for the same day I created a new event. I won't be able to join the even tomorrow. I guess the waiting list got cleared at last minute and I couldn't unjoin the even on time 😐
