Hi all, please read the hike descriptions and expectations fully before joining :) This is a medium-difficult hike so unfortunately beginner hikers are not welcome.
Please Note: This is a two-day hike, so please only register for this tour if you have booked the overnight accommodation at the Gruttenhütte.
The plan is to meet at the Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) platform 7 right at 07:30 on Saturday July 18th. We'll buy the Bayern ticket(s) right at 07:35, so if you arrive after that time, you have to buy your own ticket. We'll take the M 79059 train towards Kufstein, arriving around 08:57. Please have enough cash or a paypal account to cover the cost of the Bayern tickets for both days (21.2 - 30 euros, depending on the number of people joining).
Once in Kufstein, we'll walk through town to the start of the hike and set off on our way. On the first day, we'll hike roughly 19km (1800m vertical) to the Gruttenhütte hut for dinner and our overnight accommodation. We are not planning on stopping long at any of the huts along the way, so please bring all food for lunch, snacks, and drinks with you. On day two, we'll plan to set off around 8am or so to continue our ~17km/ 700m vertical hike! We also won't plan on stopping off at a hut along the way for lunch, but are planning on stopping off at the Weinbergerhaus for an end of hike celebratory drink. The current thought is to take the Wilder Kaiser Lift down (which is an extra 12.5 euros/person), but can optionally hike down an extra 1.5-2 hours back to the Kufstein train station. Celebratory train drinks will also be encouraged for the ride back.
If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to WhatsApp or call me at: +49 1719674960.
More information on this hike can be found on this blog, which was used for inspiration. Please also see this hiking tour made on Komoots, which will be primarily used for navigation on this hike.
