Großer Watzmann ( 2713m) is the highest peak standing entirely within Germany. It stands almost 2000m above the green waters of Königsee. 

Route: We will follow the counter-clockwise route. Parkplatz Wimbacherbrücke->Wimbackgrieshütte->Watzmann Südspitze-> Watzmann Mittelspitze -> Watzmannhaus -> Parkplatz Wimbacherbrücke. We plan to complete the tour in < 10 hours.

Technical Difficulty: This hike is NOT suitable for beginners. The route involves sections till SAC hiking scale T6. You have to be absolutely surefooted and no fear of heights. You should have above average pace (>500m gain/hour) and stamina, and walking speed of about 6km/h in the flat parts. Transport: We will go by car as the starting point is not easily accessible by public transport.

Joining: Click on carpool. If a car has free seats, read the instructions and possibly join the car. Otherwise add yourself to the waiting list and regularly check for free seats. You are not automatically assigned to a car.

• water (min. 2l, reservoir recommended)
• rainjacket (30% probability to rain as of 23.07), temperatures around 4°C
• snacks/food for the day 
• a mask for the hut just in case
• charged smartphone, emergency no 112 saved, optionally powerbank
• sun glasses, sunscreen
