It's one of the most beautiful hikes in Bavaria. The ridge between Heimgarten and Herzogstand offers amazing views of Walchensee and Kochelsee. In sunny hot days, don't forget to take a dip in Walchensee.
It is the first time that I do this route, but I found many who described it as "technically easy", that does not mean that you can come with improper shoes, you may have to put on your hiking shoes. Concerning the lunch, we can discuss it tomorrow or later today, but having lunch at Berggasthaus Herzogstand is a recommended option.
By public transport: we will meet in Munich Hbf at 6:30 am and take the train to Kochel (the last station), and then we will take the bus towards Walchensee Seestüberl, Kochel a. See. The starting point of the hike is the bus stop: Walchensee Herzogstandbahn, Kochel a. See. The cheapest way is to by Bavern ticket which is also valid in the bus. The hike ends in Urfeld, you can take the bus towards Kochel from there.
Essential tools to have:
Hiking boots
Enough water
Some snacks
Your genuine smile
Your train ticket or money for the Bayern-ticket
And anything that you may need :)
