UPDATE: Canceled as there will be 80 km/h winds on Rotwand all day, and possible lightning later in the day. Also I am very sick :(. Proposed alternative: Wank from Garmisch Partenkirchen. Same meeting place if you are interested in going - I will help to organize it and supply a map but will stay in Munich. 


A relaxed hike to one of the most well-known mountains around Munich. We will go at a moderate pace, but note that this hike is fairly long (>1000 m elevation gain) so it is not for beginners.

We will stop for a picnic somewhere near the summit, and (depending on the time) on the way down or in Spitzingsee for a drink!

Good to know

Please bring:

  • Proper hiking boots
  • Sufficient water (at least 2 liters)
  • Lunch for the summit
  • Weather-appropriate clothing (may be colder on the summit)

Note that I will buy the train tickets at 7:45 exactly. If you arrive at 7:46, you will be out of luck.

Please cancel well in advance (min. 12 hours) if you are unable to come.
