This tour offers great diversity in means of terrain, steepness and views.
After 2 hours you will have scree under your feet with more steep ascend. Just before Stopselzieher you can have a break at Wiener-Neustädter-Hütte. Stopselzieher itself is a very easy via ferrata level A, which is almost not exposed. After reaching Zugspitze, the only one technical path remaining is the descend to Zugspitzplatt on the other side. It has ropes on top and some scree on bottom. However, you can leave via ferrata set in your backpack for this descend, at least if you have done Stopselzieher w/o using it. Helmet and gloves are recommended. After this short descend you have a long hike in front, which has minor technical difficulty and minor ascends, however you don't want to underestimate this second part, since it is very long and you have spend some of your power on the first part.
Thanks for Andrey for his description, which I edited according to his conclusions and our modified route.

*note that at the peak, you will have the option (if tired or want to stay hours at the peak+"platt") to ride down with the Tiroler Zugspitzbahn. Check timetables and prices:
