Let's enjoy the sunny Sunday at Königssee and hike around both Königssee and Watzmann, following the sun shining on Watzmann.
The hike will be postponed if the weather is not good.
Route: The route is rather long, with lots of short up and down sections, and one mountain (about 1100m gain) ascent, and a very gentle descent. Instead of taking the boat to Salet, we'll explore the adventurous, forgotten Ostuferweg, which requires some wayfinding. First we'll pass by Grünstein, Malerwinkel, and the lower part of the famous Königsbachfall. We'll find the way to Kessel, Im Reitl, and Salet. After a break at the beautiful Obersee we'll continue to the west side of Königssee and ascent via the picturesque Sigeretplatte (secured by ropes) to Trischübel (If there is too much snow, we could instead go to St. Bartholomä and Archenkanzel). Fast hikers could summit Hirschwiese from Trischübel (350m gain extra). Then we'll descend via Wimbachgries back to the car.

Technical Difficulty: This hike is NOT suitable for beginners. You have to be absolutely surefooted and no fear of heights. You should have above average pace (>500m gain/hour) and stamina, and walking speed of about 6km/h in the flat parts.
Transport: We will go by car as the starting point is not easily accessible by public transport. Due to Kontaktbeschränkung only two persons per seat row are allowed in each car. The driver(s) may require passengers to pay in advance. Please read the car instructions carefully. If the hike or lift is cancelled or postponed, the drivers must reimburse the prepaid payments. Otherwise a passenger dropping out before departure must only be reimbursed if the driver can find a replacement. Car drivers must contact me first if they drop out.
Joining: Click on carpool. If a car has free seats, read the instructions and possibly join the car. Otherwise add yourself to the waiting list and regularly check for free seats. You are not automatically assigned to a car.
Legal disclaimer: This is not a guided tour. I merely organize the trip to the starting point with like-minded, qualified, properly equipped and reliable persons. Every participant must be able to navigate her/himself on the suggested route. If you join, you acknowledge that hiking is dangerous, you are fully responsible for yourself and that you have sufficient insurance (DAV, Bergrettung or similar).
Weather forecast sunny, max. 13°C
Note: Please unjoin the event well in advance, if you don't want to come. You cannot unjoin the event when it is starting in less than 12 hours. No-shows will be recorded in your profile.
