Description
Let's enjoy the last days of fair weather with a Traditional Bavarian Picnic Hike!
The idea is:
- Easy route (T2, 9 km, 530 m altitude gain) so everyone can join
- Calm pace (the route is to be done in 3h12 but we won't be in a hurry and will make as many stops as necessary)
- Bring your own food, preferably something traditional Bavarian (Weißwurst, Brezn, Obazda, Leberkässemmel...)
This route is subject to cancellation if the weather conditions would not be suitable.
As per the usual Hiking Buddies custom, if you've got a "No Show" in the last year, I'd like to ask you to abstain from joining this hike.
Current Covid restrictions apply: we need to wear masks at all times in trains and stations, hike maintaining the security distance and form separate groups of no more than 5 people when eating.Good to know
The route is not technical so no equipment is needed, yet some good hiking shoes are always recommended.
Things to bring in your backpack:
- Food for yourself, one 1-litre bottle of water and maybe some other drinks.
- Sunscreen.
- Some cash money for the tickets and in case you want to buy something in Gmund or Tegernsee.
- [Optional] A blanket to lie on.
- [Optional] Some picnic cloth and basket would be nice :)
- [Optional] It's never a bad idea to always carry in your backpack a small first-aid kit.
We
shall meet at Munich Hauptbahnhof (platforms 27-36) at 8:40 am on Sunday, October the 4th, buy the tickets together
and take the BOB 86959 to Gmund am Tegernsee at 9:04, arriving at 9:56.
As soon as the exact departure platform is anounced, it will be updated here.

Hi Ava, the waiting list is a reserve pool of people in case some of the attendants cancel before the hike starts. If that would happen, the Hiking Buddies website will automatically reassign the free slot(s) to the people in the waiting list, always according to the principle that people who joined sooner have preference over those who joined later.
