Description

Important! We meet at platform 12 Munich Hbf at 8:40 instead! We are taking the Meridian M 79011 train instead! If you come early it's fine, I will be there at 8:00 to chat with you.

Although there will be showers throughout the day and some light rain in the afternoon, we can still enjoy the beautiful autumn and great views of Chiemsee from Kampenwand. 

The view of the Chiemgauer Alpen should be quite nice, because its neighboring peak (Hochplatte) is rated as one of the top 10 Autumn hikes in Germany.

Fitness and Sure Footedness is required since the last part to the summit is quite steep and slippery.


Good to know

Start: Train leaves at Munich Hbf 08:56 from platform 12 (M79011 train). We will reach Aschau (Chiemgau) at 10:16. The plan is to take the 17:43 train back, and arrive in Munich at around 7pm.

Lunch will be at Kampenwand Hut if we have time (optional).

Requirements: 

  1. Water (1.5litre).
  2. Hiking Shoes.
  3. Food. 
  4. Waterproof jacket, trousers
  5. warm clothes- predicted temperature is 4-7C
  6. Recommend taking hiking poles in case of snow
  7. Cash for the Bayern ticket (which costs around 10-15 euro per person) and drinks. 
  8. Optional head torch and first aid kit

I think Bayern ticket is not valid on RJ trains. There are meridian trains departing at 6:55 and 8:56 for the same destination though, where you can use Bayern ticket

Hi Guys! we are taking the 8:56 train from Hbf instead! So as long as you arrive at 8:40 am to Hbf at platform 12 that will be sufficient. Sorry for the very late update.
