Route description

From the station in Reith b. Seefeld, head SE on Römerstraße. Turn left opposite the church and go steeply uphill. At the first branch turn right, at the second go left. The path becomes even steeper and leads directly to a large estate. This is passed anticlockwise (starting right) and soon it stops being so steep. After crossing a farm track, the broad trail continues north, before turning right and rising noticeably in countless hairpin bends. Soon a forest road is reached, which leads to the left for a short time. Signposted but slightly hidden, the path branches off sharply to the right, which keeps climbing with ever more hairpins. Finally, the slope decreases and the path contours past the summit of the Rauenkopf. Ascending gently a little more, the Schartlehnerhaus is finally reached. Although this former mountain guesthouse has been closed for many years, a bench outside the front door invites you to let the morning sun shine in your face and rest your legs.

The further ascent to the Nördlinger Hut takes place over a path which follows the ridge, first through pines, and later opening out. Here, the view continues with almost every step, until finally the trail bends to a right turn and for the first time the Nördlinger Hut is visible, only slightly below the summit. On the way to the hut, you pass a turning to the left, where you will later descend to Seefeld. Behind the Nördlinger Hut, a path continues, which quickly meets the rocky summit of Reither Spitze. With a little scrambling, the summit is easily reached.

After the well-deserved and promising summit break, the descent first leads back to the Nördlinger Hut and on to the path passed on the way up: go right down towards Seefeld. Soon the path branches: head left downhill. After a while, the path moves to the right and crosses a stream. After that, the descent becomes shallower, until the trail joins a forest path. Shortly thereafter, you pass the turning to Reither Jochalm on the right, but you branch off on the trail to the left. This leads quickly down again and goes almost all the way to the valley floor. Continue downhill until you join a road and reach a crossroad, then turn left and proceed to a paved road. Continue to the main road, and carefully cross. On the other side, a path continues to the right, initially parallel to the road. This passes a small lake, and finally reaches the outskirts of Seefeld and turns into the Römerweg. At the roundabout turn left into Reitherspitzstraße and proceed to the railroad crossing. From there, you can reach the railway station.
