Säuling (2047 m) is a mountain on the German-Austrian border in the Ammergau Alps which is also known as the Northern Limestone Alps.
According to the legend, the devil personally ripped off a rock from the pillar and threw it in the direction of Roßhaupten, but the stone fell perpendicularly to the ground and stopped in front of the village which can be seen today. Also, the legend says that this summit plateau of the peak is used by the witches as a dance floor.
So, my dear buddies, let’s go there and show our moves so that the witches get scared :P.
We start from Munich at 06:32 to go to Reutte in Tirol from where we start our hike. From there we go up to the Zunderkopf (1726 m) followed by Säuling (2039 m). Afterward, we get down on the other side of the mountain and reach Hohenschwangau, where the Disney Castle and majestic Alpsee wait for us. From Hohenschwangau, we take a bus to Füssen from where we come back to Munich by train.
