Description
Dear buddies,

weather looks still very warm and sunny for the season. So let´s use this Saturday for a short but rewarding tour.
The ascent through the Wolfsschlucht to the Schildenstein is one of the absolute classics in the Bavarian Prealps and one of the most exciting climbs that the Mangfallgebirge has to offer. The varied route along the Felsweißach through the wild Wolfsschlucht offers both pleasurable and challenging terrain. The comfortable descent over Königsalm completes the interesting fore-alpine tour to a wonderful round. From the bus stop Wildbad Kreuth we go over the bridge and then turn left. On a wide driveway it goes to the pretty Hofbauernweißbach, and you always follow the south. The gravel road makes a turn and you can see on the opposite side of the stream the alpine dairy Siebenhütten.
We follow the road straight ahead and keep to the right fork (signposted "Wolfsschlucht"). Over a, now rising road it goes through the forest to the meadows of the untouched Weißachalm. We continue on a footpath on the edge of the beautiful Felsweißach stream bed. The path becomes a partly indistinct path, whereby red markings help further and the orientation from the creek bed is given anyway.
At a fork in the valley we keep to the right and walk into the Grosse Wolfsschlucht. Before entering Große Wolfsschlucht, we turn left to the Klein Wolfsschlucht. It is a bit narrower and has a free-falling waterfall about 8 meters high. A great spectacle of nature especially in spring time and in autumn after strong rain! By passing a small waterfall at the impressive head of the valley, the path turns to the right and continues uphill through steep beech forest with a first cable-insured point. After that the terrain becomes flatter again, it goes on partly eroded climb uphill, where at the key point also wire ropes facilitate the ascent. Shortly thereafter, the terrain becomes significantly lighter again.
After about two hours we should be able to reach a light wooded mountain saddle with clear crossroads. To reach the Schildenstein, we turn right and walk in hilly terrain to a very promising alpine meadow. Behind it, it continues a bit to the west, until the Schildenstein branching off at a fork to the north and finally leads to 1613 m high summit cross.
The Schildenstein is the western terminus of the Blauberge and is particularly striking because of its beautiful pyramid shape. The climb to the summit, is rewarded with a magnificent mountain panorama. In the east we will be particularly impressed by the view down into the wild north crashes of the Blauberg Ridge. In the south, we even catch a glimpse of the Achensee. At its western end Schildenstein summit stretches just a bit above timberline, enough to offer beautiful views over Bavarian Alps, Brandenberger Alpen, Pre - Karwendel mountains and Karwendel ranges.
We will come back to valley through a easy path till we reach Wildbad Kreuth where we can have food and drinks together.
My plan is to catch the bus at 16:00, at latest at 17:00 and we will be back in Munich by 18:00 or 19:00 at latest.

Who wants to have a beautiful Saturday? :)
