Description

On saturday we will likely have good weather again and I would like to do a long and rather difficult hike with you. Nebelhorn is a famous mountain close to Oberstdorf, we will combine it with Westlicher Wengenkopf which is close by and even little higher.

The route is designed to avoid huts. The cable car is running and they will be croweded with flip-flop-tourists. Please bring your own food and drinks - no stopping at huts!!

The track contains some T6 and T5 paths that are difficult, the T5 route is between Westlicher Wengenkopf and Nebelhorn, it is secured by ropes because it is part of a Klettersteig. Please contact me in advance in case your profile does not suggest you are familiar with this (less than three T4 to T6 hikes), otherwise I will give your spot to someone else.

A hiking pace between 450 to 500 hm per hour would be nice. We are one group, let's hike together

Please be on time, the train departs at 07:19 but I would like to buy the tickets (Regio-Tickets Allgäu-Schwaben) some minutes earlier and get nice seats for all of us. Only meeting point is Munich Hauptbahnhof. We will be in Oberstdorf at 09:38 to start our hike. Return trains operate 1-2 times per hour.

Things to bring:

    • Enough Water - 2 liters is recommended
    • Enough Food - no stopping at huts
    • Wearing comfortable hiking clothing
    • Cash (We buy the ticket together and split the cost immediately, it will be 11 to 15 Euros depending on the group size)

I got a private message asking for the required gear and the meeting point: - We will meet at Munich Main Train Station, in front of track 28 / München Hauptbahnhof vor Gleis 28 - It is sunny and the path is nearly snow-free however, it might be slippery. Please bring appropriate hiking boots. Everything else (helmet, gloves, Klettersteigset) is voluntarily. In the rare case that the T6 path is not manageable without spikes, there is an option to go around.
