Description

A nice, not-too-easy, not-too-hard hike to Benediktbeuern to enjoy the Christmas market! It's a quite traditional market and only open for one day so take advantage. I estimate the hike will take about 6 hours, then we'll spend 1-2 hours in the Christkindlmarkt before taking the train back. 

Remember that even if the hike looks easy, there may be a lot of snow so make sure you come prepared!

Seriously, we won't wait for latecomers. 3 minutes after the meeting time we'll buy our ticket. 


You need to be properly equipped because it's a winter hike and it's going to rain/snow a bit tomorrow! The following items are absolutely essential! If you don't have them, you won't be allowed to come! 

  • Proper hiking boots
  • Enough water/fluids for the day (min. 1.5 L) 
  • Enough food for the day (make sure you have a proper lunch! Glühwein on an empty stomach = no fun!) 
  • Snow/rain pants
  • Rain jacket
  • Extra layers
  • Warm socks and an extra pair
  • Winter hat and gloves
  • 10-15€ for the train ticket (please bring change!) 

Optional but recommended:

  • Spikes for your boots 
  • Hiking poles
  • Warm drinks
  • Headlamp
