Description

The Reiter Alpe is the third major mountain range next to Watzmann and Hochkalter and has a steep wall on the east side, with Hintersee at the bottom. On this hike we can collect numerous peaks while traversing the ridge. Several peaks are optional, so the minimum route is about 22km with 1500m gain. We'll take a break at Neue Traunsteiner Hütte.

After the hike we could swim or cool down in Hintersee.

Technical Difficulty: This hike is NOT suitable for beginners. You have to be absolutely surefooted and no fear of heights. You should have experience with UIAA I scrambling, above average pace (>500m gain/hour) and very good stamina, and walking speed of about 6km/h in the flat parts. Between Wagendrischelhorn and Stadelhorn there is the option to use the via ferrata (mostly A/B with B/C chimney).

Weather forecast  sunny and warm

Transport: We will go by car as the starting point is not easily accessible by public transport. We'll share the car expenses (no vignette required). The driver(s) may require passengers to pay in advance. Drivers should check whether all passenger fulfil the mandatory conditions (see below) and reject those who don't. Please read the car instructions carefully. If the hike or lift is cancelled or postponed, the drivers must reimburse the prepaid payments. Otherwise a passenger dropping out before departure must only be reimbursed if the driver can find a replacement. Car drivers must contact me first if they drop out.

Joining: Click on carpool. If a car has free seats, read the instructions and possibly join the car. Otherwise add yourself to the waiting list and regularly check for free seats. You are not automatically assigned to a car.

Legal disclaimer: This is not a guided tour. I merely organize the trip to the starting point with like-minded, qualified, properly equipped and reliable persons. Every participant must be able to navigate her/himself on the suggested route. If you join, you acknowledge that hiking is dangerous, you are fully responsible for yourself and that you have sufficient insurance (DAV, Bergrettung or similar).

Note: Please unjoin the event well in advance, if you don't want to come. You cannot unjoin the event when it is starting in less than 12 hours. No-shows will be recorded in your profile.
