Let's climb Hochkalter!
Nuno was so kind to offer to drive, starting at 5 from Parkstadt Schwabing and passing by Effnerplatz/ Muenchen Ost depending on where is most convenient.
Text me first (+316 83354785) to let me know a bit about your scrambling/alpine hiking experience. I'll then add you to the whatsapp group.
We take the normal route via Blaueishuette and down through Ofental. This is a difficult and long route ONLY suited to experienced and fit hikers. I have a pretty moderate pace of around 400m/hour, up to 500. If you like to go much faster this might not be for you, I prefer to stick together on difficult parts for safety. If you are much slower, we might run out of time.
Calculating 3 hours to Blaueishuette + 4 from the hut to Hochkalter, + 4-5 for descent (https://www.summitpost.org/hochkalter-via-sch-ner-fleck/156618). A headlamp will be useful in case we are slower than expected. Tour will probably take 12 hours including breaks. Don't plan things for the evening.
This should be obvious, but I am not a guide and not responsible for other participants. We look out for each other but are all responsible for our own safety, food, water, navigation etc. I cannot guarantee you a successful trip.
Must bring:
- helmet
- headlamp
- emergency blanket or bivy sack
- plenty water
- food/snacks (we can have a snack at Blaueishuette after +-3 hours)
- fleece/jacket
-
your own map and compass! I recommend Gaia GPS but any map or GPS app
with gpx file downloaded for offline use will work. I recommend a
powerbank if using phone, in case your phone runs out
- optionally swimsuit for Hintersee afterwards
Optional:
- poles
- gloves for climbing and descent (I like to use them because ripping your hands open when falling on choss sucks)
