On Saturday I would like to attempt Urbeleskarspitze.
From Hinterhornbach to Kaufbeurer Haus it is a T3, from there on it is a steep, exposed walk with scrambling (T5/T6). Very well marked route. Most of the scrambling is I. grade UIAA, some spots are grade II, the most difficult part is II+.
The route goes on the North side, but the weather is sunny and dry from Tuesday onwards, so it should be dry.
Again, very exposed, very steep, but climbing is technically not that difficult.
My estimation for the total duration is 9 hours. I think 6h calculated by the HB algorithm are not realistic.
Video Ref 1, Video Ref 2 (Beginning at 01:48 you see the II+ grade section - it is a 5m wall)
Detailed report with many photos (written in German, but it's more about the photos, not text)
Disclaimer: This is not a guided tour. I am not a mountain guide. You are responsible for yourself. As with any physical activity, there is a risk of injury.
If you carpool in my car, I can pick you up from Memmingen Bhf at 07:55. You would take the RE 72 at 06:21 from Munich Hbf.
Most probably you will be in Memmingen either to the RE 72 at 20:08 or at 21:07, so you will arrive at Munich Hbf 21:40 or later. Highly unlikely earlier than that.
Or you drive on your own to the starting point in Hinterhornbach.
Please bring:
- helmet!!
- possibly gloves
- covid papers for crossing the border with Austria
- all the other stuff you bring on your T5/T6 hikes
- we may have a break at Kaufbeurer Haus on the way down, so please bring snacks/food for the day
