A circular hike with two highlights: views into the Bletterbach gorge, part of the Dolomite UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2009, and the ascent of a summit with a panoramic views.
Do not register unless you have arranged means of getting there. This is around 4 hours’ drive from Munich.
Admission
to the Bletterbach gorge is subject to a charge and is payable at the
parking lot of the visitor center! The entrance fee is likely €6. The fee applies to the entry of
the Bletterbach gorge and also includes a visit to the Visitor Center
Geoparc and the Geomuseum Radein as well as a rental helmet. Helmet is
required throughout the gorge due to the risk of falling rocks.
From
the GEOPARC visitor center, take the Geo-Weg for about 20 minutes to
the turnoff, which leads down to the streambed of the Bletterbach. We leave the river bed on the Gorzsteig path (name G) and climb path no. 12 (Zirmersteig) to the summit of the Weißhorn. The descent to Jochgrimm follows the mountain trail. The circular route continues on path no. 1, which leads north around the Weißhorn, towards Neuhüttalm. Above the Neuhüttalm we branch off on the path no. 5a and reach the "Grossnerwiesen". Path no. 5 leads down to Kösertal. Here
you can decide whether to follow the path no. 3, past the Lahner-Alm,
back to the visitor center, or take the path no. 2a to the monastery
Maria Weißenstein.
Very cold (-10°C on the summit). It looks still and dry, but you never know in the mountains.
