Instructions for the hike
Pace won´t be fast. The aim of the hike is to enjoy the beautiful views that this route has to offer. We will travel to Seefeld in Tirol by train sharing a Werdenfels plus Innsbruck ticket and then we Will Need a.ride on the bus from Seefeld to Leutasch. (Ticket for the bus to pay extra. Normally 3,50 Euro). Since we have quite some wait till the bus comes, I Plan a stop at a cafè in Seefeld :) One more stop Will be in the evening in Ehrwald for a beer or something warm to eat or drink. The day should be very Sunny and much warmer then the previous ones. According to Bergfex we should have around +6 at middle day and then slowly going down. ☺️
Hiking can be a dangerous activity. Everyone is responsible for him/herself. I am not a professional guide.
Hike Description
Long but technically rather Easy hike in Austria from Leutasch to Ehrwald that is part of the famous Adlerweg.
It’s a long journey of about 20 kilometres starting in Leutasch. From there we will be walking along Leutascher Ache River and Gaistalbach Creek till we reach at the end of Gaistal Valley a magnificently remote place with old growth forest. Then when we will follow Ganghoferweg trail passing close to Hämmermoosalm and further into the valley to Gaistalalm and Tillfussalm. The route runs all the time between Mieming and Wetterstein Mountain Range with peaks that are becoming more and more impressive as you hike up, all of them well above 2000 m. A panoramic hike that should never get too steep will take us to Igelsee lake where Leutascher Ache River has its sources.
We finally walk down till Ehrwald towered by the austrian side of Zugspitze to drink and eat something warm together.
- flashlight (due to seasons it will get darker sooner and we could need it on the way back)
