Hike Description
Wild rock mountains, extremely steep grass mountains and friendly green hills: Allgäu in One Word. The last case Is for the peaks that we are going to visit today, not too technical, max T3 and only on short sections. We start at Altstädten train station at almost 10a.m. First the beautiful path up to Hinang with a very good view over the Illertal to the Kleinwalsertal. Then we have the chance to get to see the pretty Hinanger waterfalls. We continue up till Sonnenklause and then we look for our First target of the day: Sonthofner Hörnle. To do this, go in the direction of the Sonnenköpfe and turn left into the forest just before the saddle without a path. Occasional tracks can be seen, otherwise just go up, the forest is easy to walk on. At the very top you come across a well-trodden path. A small cross on a stone man marks the highest point. Back directly along the ridge on the Forest Path. We continue till we get out of the forrest and from now on you are on a real panorama path, the view of the Rotspitze, Grosse Daumen and Nebelhorn is overwhelming. It's not far to the Sonnenkopf. It Will follow Heidelbeerkopf and finally the Schnippenkopf. It is the highest point of the group and it also offers a bit more challenging terrain than its neighbors but it remains at T3 because of the clearly specified path. The way back via Falkenalpe, Entschenalpe till Oberstdorf where we can drink and eat something together not far from the station and have Better train connections.
