General information

Weather: Sunny. Perfect weather, hopefully it won't change!

Route: We walk up, and sledge down. One of the longest sledding slope of Switzerland! Sledge can be rented for 10 CHF. If you join my car, I do NOT have space for your own sledge.

Required gear: Hiking shoes with good grip. Spikes good to have.

Pace / fitness level: Moderate pace. Walking that distance & gain in snow requires you to have a good fitness level.

Transportation: This is a carpool event, see explanations below. I have a car but other drivers are welcome to add theirs. You're free to join by public transports on your own if there is a way to do so, in which case you can add a "fake" car via the carpool button.

Schedule (approximately)

• 08h00: Leaving from Zürich
• 09h00: Start
• 11h00: Top & sledge rental
• 12h00: Parking
• Depending on the mood of the group, we may do it a 2nd time.

Important rules about Hiking Buddies

• You have until 12 hours before the start of the event to drop out from the hike.
• Participants not showing up will get a "NO-SHOW" flag on their profile, which decreases significantly your chances to be accepted on future hikes.
• The organizer is no professional guide, participants must be responsible for themselves (and that means to do some research about the routes and its potential dangers / tricky sections to know if you have the experience for it).

Carpool - Explanations

Drivers are welcome to add their cars as long as the limit of participants has not been reached.

Instructions for passengers in my car

• The car is a BMW Gran Tourer Grey (6 seats). In case 5 people are in my car, I can add the 6th seat for a small person upon request.
• Meeting time is indicated in the carpool page (green button at the top). 
• Meeting point will be within 5 minutes walk from Zürich Brunau (depends where I could park my car). The exact meeting point will be given the day before on the Carpool page. I will also send you a mail as a reminder.
• Fuel prepayment: Please pay the amount indicated on the carpool page for my car before the hike (that is to avoid no shows). Consider it a CHF amount (the platform is not made for Switzerland yet). If no payment is done, I will give your seat to someone else 12 hours before the start of the event (or earlier). 

Passengers in other cars need to refer to the info given by the driver in the Carpool page.

ARC'TERYX TEST GEAR

From 1st January 2022, Hiking Buddies in Zürich having participated to at least two hikes are entitled to borrow for a month Arc'Teryx outdoor gear (see Facebook post). The list of available items is on this Google Sheet. Should you be interested, send me a message with the piece of gear you wish to borrow.

FAQ

• Where / when do we meet?

You need to differentiate two things. First, the time and place you will meet with the car you are joining (driver & other passengers). This info is accessible via the Carpool button. Second, the time and place at the parking / starting point of the route. That info is at the top of this page, but mostly relevant to drivers.

• Can I join by public transports? 

If you see a Carpool button, it means this event is carpool event, in which the main transportation mode will be cars. If you somehow find a way to join by public transports, you're free to do so, but make sure to be on the parking / starting point at the indicated time on the top of this page. In order to join a carpool event by public transports, click on the Carpool button, and add a "fake car" with no seat available.
