Description

Make sure to read the whole description below

In case you cannot join the hike, please drop out more than 12h before the start.

General information

Meeting point: Near the bench / stairs. https://maps.app.goo.gl/H3gcA5fxGHfBEjnu6

Starting time: 17h00. That is the starting time, meaning you'd better arrive at least 5 minutes earlier.

Weather: Night, cloudy, post rain / snow, meaning muddy or maybe icy / snowy, spikes highly recommended.

Route: For the way up, we'll take trails in the woods as often as possible instead of sticking to the main path. The way down will be on the main road.

Pace / fitness level: Chill, open to everyone, but the route can be pretty steep.

Transportation: Everyone goes to the meeting point on their own. If you come by car, it's pretty easy to park there.

Note: On your profile, ideally add a picture of you and select the country you're from (not the one you're living in), to show how international the group is. :)

Schedule (approximately)

  • 17h00: Start hiking.
  • 18h00: Top
  • 19h00: Finish

Gear

Mandatory: Proper hiking boots (or trail running shoes) with a good grip, lamp, warm clothes, gloves.

Spikes optional for experienced Buddies, but mandatory for beginners.

You always need a lamp (head or handheld) with you, even during day hikes. Your phone is not a lamp.

See here an exhaustive check list of gear for single day hikes, and here my recommendations regarding spikes.

Important rules about Hiking Buddies

  • You have until 12 hours before the start of the event to drop out from the hike.
  • Participants not showing up will get a "NO-SHOW" flag on their profile, which decreases significantly your chances to be accepted on future hikes.
  • The organizer is no professional guide, participants must be responsible for themselves (and that means to do some research about the routes and its potential dangers / tricky sections to know if you have the experience for it).

ARC'TERYX TEST GEAR

From 1st January 2022, Hiking Buddies in Zürich having participated to at least two hikes are entitled to borrow for a month Arc'Teryx outdoor gear (see Facebook post). The list of available items is on this Google Sheet. Should you be interested, send me a message with the piece of gear you wish to borrow.

Hi there, nice being part of the company for the first time. Indeed a nice crew. Julien is quite a sportsman :) Indeed the path requires spikes or spiked shoes. I would rather classify the path as T2 for the most part. Will try again :)
