Enjoy hiking year-round at the August-Schuster Haus with an optional peak, the Teufelstättkopf. The views from the top are absolutely spectacular and considered a classic tour in the Ammergauer Alpen. 

Most of the hike follows a forest road up to the hut. Afterward, it's a hiking trail. The last 10 meters to the Teufelstättkopf summit are secured by a cable. In winter, these cables may be buried. Surefootedness is required during this final ascent.

Good to know
Before you decide to go please check the following:
  • You have snowshoes and you are familiar with them
  • You are fit and healthy. You understand the requirements of the route and you are confident you can do it.
  • You have hiked in winter before and you have suitable equipment (preferably bring an avalanche rescue kit)
  • You bring enough water, food, cash, sunscreen, etc ...
  • Be aware that you are joining this hike at your own risk. Therefore make sure to have the insurance required for mountain rescue.
  • You are fully vaccinated/recovered/tested: please make sure to follow the 2G+ rules and bring an FFP2 mask.
  • You have checked the weather and you are aware of the avalanche risk.
  • Make sure to have a seat in one of the cars from our carpool
