Beginner Friendly Via Ferrata: Ettaler Manndl (Klettersteig A/B)
8:00 Meeting at München HbH at platform 28
8:10 We buy Werdenfels group tickets
8:20 We get on the train
8:32 Departure for Oberrau
9:40 Bus from Oberrau to Klostergasthof
10:05 Arrival to Klostergasthof, Ettal bus station
10:10 We walk to the Ettaler Manndl Klettersteig: 3,5 km.
11:00 We start the hike / Via Ferrata up.
13:00 We reach the top, we have a rest and lunch.
14:00 We start going downhill.
16:30 We reach Klostergasthof, Ettal bus station
16:50 Bus back to GP
17:35 Train for Munich
18:52 Arrival in Munich
Requirement:
- You must have DAV membership in case of emergency
- You must have a via ferrata kit: harness, via ferrata set, helmet, gloves
- You must wear proper hiking shoes
- You must not have issue with height
- You have to bring food and water for the whole day
Difficulty Level: A/B
This route is totally beginner. So, people without via ferrata experience can also come.

Hike up: 2 h
Hike down: 1 h 30 mins
Organization: I have already organized two beginner via ferrata groups: Gelbe Wand (A/B) and Mittenwalder Höhenweg (B).

Just know that the via ferrata part might be really packed because of the people coming with the cable car. As it is an easy ferrata, many were absolutely inexperienced and there was some panicking, holding up the lines and looong wait so you might need to be patient 😉 - it happened to me 2 yrs back. The hike up/ back is super nice though!
