Description

THIS HIKE IS FINALLY HAPPENING THIS SATURDAY!

Please read carefully:

We will meet at Hbf at the Gate 21 at 6:50 or if you come earlier, please save seats for us because the train might be full with the 9 EU ticket deal. The train leaves at 7:05 to Nurenberg and then we take RB 30 to Vorra where we begin the hike at 9:48 am.

We will come back either with 18:11 train from Vorra or 20:11 train. Be ready for anything unexpected. I have no idea how fast we will do the route and how crowded the trains are now (this will be my first trip with the 9 EU ticket).

I AM NOT EXPENDING THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS BECAUSE IT WILL BE EVEN MORE DIFFICULT TO FIND SEATS TOGETHER IN THE TRAIN.

BRING FOOD AND WATER - I DO NOT KNOW HOW OFTEN AND WHERE WE WILL STOP BECAUSE THE ROUTE IS LONG.

Everyone who is in , please join this whatsapp group: https://chat.whatsapp.com/JzyWo3Yl8P1Atq4nHTAKuU

PLEASE UNJOIN IF YOU ARE NOT PLANNING TO COME.

SEE YOU ON SATURDAY!

Instructions for the hike

We meet on platform 24. We buy group ticket. The train leaves at 7,05. So please be punctual. We cannot buy ticket last minute and we need to sit close each other on the train. You can unjoin latest 12 hours before the event. Anyone not coming and not communicating will get a no show.

Hiking  can be a dangerous activity. Everyone is responsible for him/herself. I am not a professional guide

The longest pause I ever had from HB in these 6 and half years organizing hikes in this fantastic group! I have been missing the group! So here I am back. I was planning a hike in the Alps but the weather forecasts are not really convincing me. High chances of rain, even some chances for thunderstorms. So let´s go north to Franken for a beautiful and interesting adventure through forest, strange rocks and a huge number of caves. 34! Some or all of them we will be exploring. Please bring a flashlight with you! You don´t need to be having previous experience with caves exploration for this hike. We will have a chill pace.
The Hirschbacher cave circular hiking trail is one of the most exciting and varied hiking trails in Germany. It offers caves, rocks and adventure. Behind every bend, hikers are offered new views and insights into the rugged karst landscape. Rock overhangs, Jura reefs, dolomite blocks and caves again and again. There are wonderful opportunities for easy scrambling with crawling inserts in winding caves that are up to 50 meters long and sometimes several meters deep. If you don't want to crawl into each of the 34 caves, you will always find a more comfortable variant or a way around it and can skip a few meters in altitude in some caves. Moreover some beautiful open views can be enjoyed along the tour. We have great opportunities for this at the summit cross on the Mittelbergwand and near the Hohenglücksteig (viewpoint "Am Himmel").

Very important: the map above contains the beginning and the most interesting part of the route. For technical reasons I could not end the hike plan. The map is missing the last section that goes back to Hirschbach first and then to Vorra Station going basically through the same way we took in the very first section. I will try to fix the issue in the next days otherwise I will share a file with the entire route.

Does anyone have a car guys? I check and it looks like the way with public transport would take almost 3 hrs Unfortunately, I think I will have to cancel the hike if we don't find a driver.

We could rend a DriveNow car for a day, I can drive. It will be ca. 100-120 €. But split between 5 people is not much. Besides, we save several hours of time as compared to public transport. Let me know earlier enough, so today in the evening I can rent one.
