In case you cannot join the hike, drop out more than 12h before the start.

Edit 20 May 20h00: Since we still have two spots for tomorrow, everyone can sign up - the ">= 2 hike" condition doesn't apply anymore!

General information

Slots will open on Wednesday 18th at lunch time (making sure the weather forecasts don't change). If you have a car, please message me, as we need a third one.

Weather: Cloudy at the start of the hike, the sky will get clearer later on. Risks of thunderstorms late afternoon should not be a problem as we will finish at 2 pm latest.

Route: Technically easy. However, the length requires you to have a good fitness level / be a regular hiker.

Pace: We will be walking at a moderate pace. You need to be in a good condition, i.e doing some cardio several times a week.

Limit of participants: 10.

Transportation: By car only, but fuel is covered by Arc'Teryx (refund for drivers will take 1 to 2 months).

Remark: I am creating the event, but it will be led by Thomas Barge.

Sponsored by Arc'Teryx - What does it mean?

• Arc'teryx will cover the transportation cost for everyone. Each driver will receive 70 CHF (fuel + parking).
• Each participant will receive goodies (caps or t-shirts) which you will need to wear during the hike
• Each participant can get a test gear (gloves, jackets, backpack, trousers) for 1 month. List of available gear on that Google sheet (click). Please send me a message with the piece of gear you wish to use during the hike so that I can reserve it for you and bring it.
• You will be asked to tell your story regarding the brand: Did you know it before, ever tried / owned any gear, what do yo uknow about that brand, etc. Several stories may be shared on social media.

Participation criteria (drivers may be exempt): 

• You have no "no-shows" in last 6 months and you have done at least 2 hikes with Hiking Buddies.
• You have no objections in being photographed, those pictures will be used in social media.
• You have not joined any of the previous Arc'teryx sponsored hikes.

Schedule (approx.)

• Carpool meeting time: If you are join a car, check the info provided by your driver in the Carpool page.
• 10h00 : We meet and start at this location Schützenhaus Bettlach (https://goo.gl/maps/pwUVVGVent8VPAgu5)
• 11h30: First peak (Hochschwang)
• 12h30: Hasenmatt & Lunch break
• 15h00: Car
• 16h30: Zürich

Do not plan anything right after a hike, as we might come back much later than expected if something unexpected happens.

Gear

Mandatory: Hiking boots (or trail running shoes) with a good grip, sun screen

Recommended: Sun glasses, hiking

You always need a lamp (head or handheld) with you, even during day hikes. Your phone is not a lamp.
