Description

Meeting Point:  Munich Ost  at Platform 8 (or even directly in train, if you are taking from Munich Central Station).

I have booked 7 lager spots at Watzmannhaus on Saturday, 23rd July. If you have DAV membership then it cost you 13 € otherwise 29 €. Whoever want to join, please write to me before clicking join.  As cancelation applies to costs, you need to transfer 10 euros in advance to confirm your spot. This amount will be given back to you, once you show up in hike and when you are paying hut payment. Cancelation rules you can refer in website related to Watzmannhaus (https://www.alpenverein-muenchen-oberland.de/huetten/alpenvereinshuetten/watzmannhaus).

Please get your 9 Euro ticket and take the train as scheduled below,

  • RE 5: München-Ost (Platform.8 at 11:04) to Freilassing (Platform 2 at 12:33)
  • BRB S4: Freilassing (Platform 1 at 12:39) to Berchtesgarden (Platform 1 at 13:28)
  • Bus 846: Berchtesgarden (13:55) to Wimbachbrueke (14:04)

**Critical points to be noted:

Return: Please note that, as we are going via public transport, we have a dependency in return timings. We will be getting down at Wimbachbruecke bus stop at Ramsau b. Berchtesgaden. From here, there is a bus at every 1 hour going to Berchtesgaden central station. It is at 17:01 / 18:01 / 19:01 CET.

Our target is to catch bus at 17:01 or 18:01 CET. Please note that, no bus later 19:01 CET.

In my last time hike to Watzmann, on day-2, due to complex sections, I noticed people taken completely different timings to complete the hike. Some took 7/8 hrs and some 20 hrs. So, incase if you are too slow on day-2 (more than 60 mins), people in front will not wait (including me). Also, most of the route on day-2, you can expect no mobile network. So, in that case you must come alone. Please note this risk in advance and prepare accordingly.

I will not force anyone to increase the speed specially on the critical part as it will be dangerous and better to do with their own comfort. Ofcourse, if we are in t2/t1 part, then definitely we know what to do 😊

Things to bring:

  • Hiking shoes
  • Passport/Id
  • Food/drinks for the whole day
  • Hiking poles, head lamp, sunglasses
  • Raincoat & hiking clothes
  • Download.gpx file in advance and ready with import to your tracking app/’s. Example gpx viewer
  • First Aid Kit
  • spare socks and dress incase of rain
  • Most importantly, a good mood 😊

** I am not a mountain guide, so please be aware that you join at your own risk. **

** Some parts of the route are quite challenging due to different surfaces. No beginner.**

Good to know

Please unjoin the event well in advance if you don't plan to come. You cannot unjoin the event when it is starting in less than 12 hours.

Disclaimer: Going to the mountains, like any other adventure tours, is always risky; sometimes it might be life-threatening! Attendees are advised to read the full description, look into the route details and familiarize themselves to the point that as if they are going to hike by their own.

If there is any unwanted and unfortunate incident happened, they are at this moment informed that they have to pay by themselves if the rescue team needs to be called (average cost 3,000 Euro). We are certainly not official guides, so it is not a guided tour. The organizer is only responsible for taking care of the meeting and sharing the travel cost, nothing else

Hi Shinjini, Shailen told me that, you have already booked hut reservation. Can you please confirm that?

In things to bring you forgot to mention „via ferrata Equipment“?! As per your text description above.

Sorry to be stalking but, I see people in the going list who's HB Profile does not seem to show the required hikes that one needs to have done in order to go on this tour (One Profile is especially worrying). Between Watzmankind and Watzmann there are "UNSECURED STRETCHES" where a drop/slip means a 2000m free fall. There are Unsecured stretches where one needs to climb down, these sections need good climbing skills... You also need to be able to climbdown knowing the fact that there is nothing beneath your feet except the grip between your shoes and the stone..... "PLEASE DONT UNDERESTIMATE WATZMAN ÜBERSCHREITUNG'....

Also Kesav, it is a bit disturbing to see your statement "you wont be waiting for those who are slow". You should definately not be the one to be READY TO LEAVE PEOPLE BEHIND.... "YOU ARE THE ORGANIZER" . If at all you should actually calculate all possible risks, possibilities and delays as an Organiser, especially when you are taking people on a challenging Hike + Climb as this one. People trust you (It happens subconciously even if you put it up everywhere in bold letters saying "YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOURSELF") and come along with you. I also know that the return is relatively easy and your statement applies only to the Return part.... Nevertheless, it is not something that one can account for "TEAM SPIRIT".... You are going as a TEAM ... I am sorry but to be honest... it did disturb me to see that statement

Your route seems to be the other way round btw - can you check? Why it's important; because those downloading GPX file from here will have wrong direction and the garmin watch tracking will be screaming as you walk the wrong direction :)
