Description

We are going to the "queen of the grass mountains" in the beautiful region of Allgäu.

Höfats (2258m) is one of the most beautiful mountains in the Alps with very steep grass slopes from all sides.

Route that we are taking is the simplest one of the available routes for this extraordinary mountain, however this doesn't mean it is easy and safe, in fact it's quite the contrary.
This route is done on very steep grass/rock terrain that is only to be done in absolutely dry conditions. It is steep, slippery and most definitely only for experienced hikers who have done multiple T5/T6 routes who are comfortable with scrambling in at least UIAA level 2 grade.

Absolute sure-footedness is required in both directions as well as absolutely no fear of heights and exposure.

* For the reasons above, i am only comfotable with going there with the people i have already hiked with before.
If anyone wants to join that did not hike with me before, has good reviews from previous T5+ technical hikes please message me on fb or here on the website.

This is how are we getting there:

We will take the RE72 regional train from Hbf Munich at 6:21, we have one layover in Buchloe where we transfer to the RE17 that continues all the way to Oberstdorf Hbf where we should arrive at 8:40am.
Once we are in Oberstdorf, we have a 10km hike on flat terrain in front of us until we reach the Dietersbach Alpe hut after which we start to climb. Once we reach the so called Äpelesattel point we start our climb to the peak.
On the descent we go back to Äpelesattel and from there we descend to the walley on the other side and hike back 11km to Oberstdorf Hbf.

All of this should hopefully take us less than 10-11 hours.

When exactly we will return to Munich is left open.. basically once we reach the Hbf in Oberstdorf we just take the next train to Munich.

PS: I am only going to do this hike if the weather for the previous 2 days has no rain (or very very light one), as of now it should be ok. It the weather worsens, i am cancelling the hike.
