Description

Very important: In order to join this hike you need a car.  Any person willing to join can bring other persons with him/herself but those persons must be registered to HB and sign here.

You have three options:

- If you have a car, please add your car to the carpool

- If you don't have a car, please join one of the cars in the carpool

- If the cars in the carpool are not suitable, you can join the waiting list and you will be notified by email when a new car is added to the carpool

In order to join this hike you must be reasonably fit and used to winter hike with plenty of snow.



Dear buddies,

let´s go to Rofans this weekend.

From the parking lot Wimm a path goes along the forest road, direction Zireinersee and Roßkogel. We walk through a fascinating landscape, passing Eilalm, Labeggalm, Anderl's hut and Kreuzeinalm Hochleger. After the Labeggalm we continue on a trail on alpine meadows, past the cross Hochleger to Roßkogelsattel. Now we follow the trail to the jewel Zireinersee, which is reached in about 20 minutes.  Located at 1,799 m the 400 m long lake is immersed in beautiful alpine pastures between the Rofanspitze (1940m) and Rosskogel (2259m) peaks. "The Blue Eye of the Rofan" and "The Jewel of the Rofan" how is often called, one of the most beautiful lakes in the surroundings.
According to a legend, a girl once lived by the lake, who had created a beautiful flower garden around it. Once a hunter who was attracted by the mysterious girl arrived. As he watched her secretly, a dragon crept out of the water and menaced to devour the girl but he saved her by killing the dragon. The girl thanked him and showed him the mountain grotto with a rich treasure. 
On the way back at the Roßkogelsattel we climb till we reach Roßkogel summit and here we will spend some time to enjoy the great views. The we descend to the east and we continue to the Hochalm and over a trail always along the slope back to the Kreuzein Hochleger and the Labeggalm, where our circle closes again. From here along the forest road back to the parking lot.
