Hike at Oeschinensee

Since a lot of people want to join abd the route is easy, there will be no limit on the participants. I will prepare a GPX track and send it in the Whatsapp group, so anyone can have the route.
Due to different speed we will end up in multiple groups, which is not a problem on this hike i think.

But make sure to look at the route before, i will also share information on where to not take the wrong turn in the Whatsapp group.


Transport:

I will come by car and take some people along the way.

There is also the option to come by public transport to Kandersteg.

We already have some people coming by train from Zurich HB, the departure is 07:32, Plattform 32, IC1 direction Geneve Airport.

Meeting point: under the "blue angel" at 7:20.

For clarification where this is, please join the Whatsapp group and we can send the location there.


Route:

16 Km, 600-1000 height meters

The route goes from the cable car up to Oeschinensee and there the normal route starts.

In case anyone only wants to do the 600 height meters, they can go up by cable car and wait at the restaurant with a nice view at Oeschinensee for about an hour.

I will walk up with the rest and we can meet there.

From the lake it goes up to a round trip north of Oeschinensee with the chance to stop at a mountain restaurant after about 2 hours.

Then back to the lake and to the rollercoaster (for a video check here: https://www.oeschinensee.ch/en/rodeln/).

There we can sit at the restaurant or head down directly, plus use the Rodelbahn, which i can recommend. Has been great fun last time.


Going back:

Whoever wants to can go down with the cable car again and the rest can walk with me down to the station.


Water:

Note that there are no fountains on the way (at least as far as i remember), so bring enough water.

There will also be the option to buy something at the cable car, at Oeschinensee and after about half the way on the mountain restaurant.


Time overall:

about 6 hours plus breaks


Equipment:

Only hiking boots required as equipment, the path up north can be a bit slippery sometimes, but overall it is not dangerous and not very steep.

Hi Sascha and others: This is my first time joining a hiking event. It seems you can only add a car or be put on the waiting list. Since I am going by train, I selected waitlist. Does that mean I am not confirmed yet? I’m physically fit (yoga 4x/ week, run 2/ week, hike occasionally on weekends when I have time). How will I know when I am confirmed to go? I can meet others at 10am at Zurich Main station as others have commented.

Hi, I’m Amelia, this is my first time joining a hiking event! My mum and I would lvoe to come but it automatically waitlists us when trying to add a car. Are we still able to join this hike? We are driving, but not coming from zurich so we wouldn’t be able to carpool this time :( Thank you for your help!
