In case you cannot join the hike, drop out more than 12h before the start.

General information

Weather: The whole day is predicted to be sunny.

Route: Mostly T2/T3. Parts of the planned hiking route are rated T4 (see definition of T2-T4 here). It requires you to have a good fitness level / be a regular hiker and have alpine experience. 

Pace: We will be walking at a moderate pace. You need to be in a good condition, i.e doing some cardio several times a week.

Limit of participants: 10.

Transportation: By car only, but fuel is covered by Arc'Teryx (refund for drivers will take 1 to 2 months).

Sponsored by Arc'Teryx - What does it mean?

• Arc'Teryx will cover the transportation cost for everyone. Each driver will receive 70 CHF (fuel + parking).
• Each participant will receive goodies (caps or t-shirts) which you will need to wear during the hike

Participation criteria (drivers may be exempt): 

• Priority given to people having >= 2 hikes in their Hiking Buddies profile. If you have only 1 hike, please wait until Thursday, 5 pm to join. From Friday, 5 pm, people with no hike at all can also take the remaining spots.
• Every participant will be asked to give a quote that will be used on Instagram. Examples: What does hiking / nature bring you? What´s motivating you to join Hiking Buddies events?
• You have no "no-shows" in last 6 months.
• You have no objections in being photographed, those pictures will be used in social media.
• You have not joined any of the previous Arc'teryx sponsored hikes.

Participants not respecting / meeting one of these criteria will be removed from the event without notice.

Schedule (approx.)

• 07h00: Carpool meeting time: If you join a car, check the info provided by your driver in the Carpool page.
• 08h10 - 08h40: Arrival at Luftseilbahngenossenschaft Intschi-Arnisee. There is a parking on the opposite side of the street. 
• Latest 08h40: Start of the hike.
  
• 18h00-18h30: Cable car down to the parking.
• around 19h30-20h00: Zürich.
  

Do not plan anything right after a hike as we might come back much later than expected if something unexpected happens.

Gear

Mandatory: Hiking boots (or trail running shoes) with a good grip, sun screen, hiking poles

Recommended: Sun glasses, cover for head (e.g. baseball cap)

You always need a lamp (head or handheld) with you, even during day hikes. Your phone is not a lamp.

The hike is inspired by the annual 26 summits program in Switzerland. Check out their homepage and especially the hike for canton Uri here (German, French or Italian).

It is highly recommended to bring a sufficient amount of water and snacks for the entire day!

The cable car costs 16 CHF (roundtrip) or 10CHF (single direction) pp. No reduction for people with Halbtax/GA subscription.
