Schwarzhorn via ferrata
https://www.bergsteigen.com/touren/klettersteig/schwarzhorn-klettersteig/
Quick disclaimer: I'm not a veteran of via ferratas. Also, I think that the number that I chose by mistake while editing is waaaay to high. I think that if there's more than 15 people I'd have to cut somebody out so... first come first served?
I'm not the one for long descriptions so: I really want to see Grindelwald, I really want to do this via ferrata. So if somebody wants to join me, please- you're free to do so. But I'll go either way :D
Everyone is welcome to join but- you are responsible for yourself. As later stated- I am not a mountain guide.
If the weather or conditions won't work for us we can always switch and do a hike around.
Additionally if time allows we can go and see Bachalpsee.
Ah and I don't own a car so I'll be going there by train (about 3h 15m one way).
Last note: if the weather is super ugly, even not good enough for hike I will postpone this via ferrata for two weeks.
Transport:
I want to be there as soon as possible, so we meet up at Zurich HB at 6:50.Trip:
We have a IC8 (Platform 31, direction: Brig) to Bern.
In Bern we switch to IC61 (platform 6, direction: Interlaken Ost) to Interlaken Ost.
In Interlaken Ost we switch to R61 (platform 2B, direction: Grindelwald) to Grindelwald.
In Grindelwald we walk to Grindelwald, Bahnhof. There we go to 121 Bus (direction: Grindelwald, Oberer Gletscher) and we get off at Grindelwald, Firstbahn.
There we go to the cablecar and ride to First.
Just remember: this is a whole day event, I don't have anything planned for the Saturday evening and if you join- you shouldn't too.
Route:
9.2 Km, 928 meters high.
The route goes from First cable car station towards Grosse Chrinne, it's +/- 1h hike (according to bergsteigen). From there via ferrata begins and it should take us about +/- 1h30min to finish it. After via-ferrata we hike down the other side of the mountain back to First cable car station.
If we have enough time (and will) we can continue to Bachalpsee (another 1h hike one way), if not we can either go and eat something or make our way back to Zurich.\
Going back:
Return is to be determined: it's hard for me to plan how much will the via ferrata take so I can't plan way back.
Water/Food:
Take something to eat and water with you. Just don't overpack since there's some climbing to be done.Time overall:
With my current estimate whole event should take 12 hours.
Equipment:
Via ferrata set (via ferrata kit, helmet, harness), good hiking boots are required. Other than that I will take gloves. Take warm clothes with you since it might get cold in there.
Standard Disclaimer:
I am not a mountain guide, please note that you join at your own risk. As I mentioned before, I am not a via ferrata veteran so if you want to do this as your first via ferrata maybe you should sit this one out.
