Sparrhorn hike
The hike leads through lush alpine meadows, past the Lüsgersee and via the Tyndall monument and Hohbiel up to the Sparrhorn.
The ascent does not present any major difficulties and is also suitable for sure-footed children.
It's worth enjoying the view of the fantastic mountain world of the Valais Alps again and again along the way. From the summit of the Sparrhorn at 3021 m above sea level, then opens up a panoramic view: the peaks of the Fusshörner are close enough to touch, further down you can see the Oberaletsch Glacier, and in the distance you can see the striking four-thousanders Matterhorn, Weisshorn, Dom and Monte Rosa.
Transport:
I don’t own a car so I’ll be using public transportation. Since it’s not a long hike I want to meet at Zurich HB around 7:51.
Trip:
We move out with the 8:02 IC8 train (direction: Brig) and get out at Brig.
In Brig we jump on to 10:18 624 Bus (direction: Blatten b. Naters,Luftseilbahn) and get out at Blatten b. Naters,Luftseilbahn.
From there we take the cable car to Belalp where the hike begins.
Route:
11,4 Km, 934 meters high.
The route begins from the cable car station, we move northwards along Bruchegg over Lusgersee to Tyndenkmal. From Tyndalldenkmal we continue north and around Schafblattjini circling it from north.
After that we begin climb to Sparrhoru.
Way back is a little bit different, we go south of Schafblattjini and south of Tyndalldenkmal to hotel Belalp. Then we circle back to Bruchegg using trail south of the one we ascended and back to Belalp.
Going back:
Return is to be determined: however it will propably be the mirror of how we got there.
Water/Food:
Take some food and water with you. We can try to stop at some restaurant in Belalp to have a proper meal.
Time overall:
With my current estimate the whole event should take 10 hours.
Equipment:
Hiking shoes, maybe a rain jacket and optional hiking poles.
