We start the hike at 8:50am from Niederrickenbach Dorf (1200m) in direction of Ahorn, then Brisenhaus SAC, and then the top Brisen (2400m)

The ascent of 1200m lasts about 8 km - at slow pace we should be at the top around 1pm for lunch. Bring your own lunch.

The descent will go through an exposed path (T3) for about 1km.

Then we arrive in Haldigrat (restaurant) at the top of the chairlift that goes down to Alpboden (escape route for those who do not want to go down hill)
The chairlift is run privately, and does not take the GA or Half-tax.

More info: https://www.haldigrat.ch/index.php/sesselbahn-haldigrat/

We finish the hike in Niederrickenbach Dorf and we go down with the cablecar, back to Niederrickenbach.

Do not plan anything right after a hike as we might come back much later than expected if something unexpected happens.

Participation criteria (drivers may be exempt):

  • Priority given to people having >= 2 hikes in their Hiking Buddies profile.
  • If you have only 1 hike, please wait until Thursday, 5 pm to join.
  • From Friday, 5 pm, people with no hike at all can also take the remaining spots.
  • You have no "no-shows" in last 6 months.
  • You have no objections in being photographed during the hike, those pictures will be used in social media.
  • You have not joined any of the previous Arc'teryx sponsored hikes.
Participants not meeting these criteria will be removed from the event.

Weather
Forecast looks fair, but some rain is not excluded, especially around the start. This may change, so we might have to cancel the hike if the weather forecast changes at short notice.

Gear
Mandatory: Hiking boots (or trail running shoes) with a good grip, sun screen, headlamp, warm clothes, rain cover, at least 1,5L of water, and food for lunch and snacks along the way.
You always need a lamp (head or handheld) with you, even during day hikes. Your phone is not a lamp.

Recommended: Sunglasses, cover for head (e.g. baseball cap), hiking poles.

See here an exhaustive check list of gear for single day hikes.

You can also borrow an Arc'teryx rain jacket for the hike (a very good one). If interested, answer Julien's comment below by mentioning your size (take into account that if you're usually M you might want S as Arc'Teryx sizing is a bit different).

In case you need a rain jacket, you can borrow a Arc'teryx one (a very good one). If interested, answer this comment by mentioning your size (take into account that if you're usually M you might want S ... Arc'Teryx sizing). I'll then bring it to the hike.
