Back in town to propose another great tour in Austria! If you are ready to wake up early, do a long trip, hike 8-9 hours and you don´t mind to be back late, you will be rewarded with a great day outdoor along the Krumbacher Höhenweg in Kleinwalsertal!

Starting point of Saturday's hike is a parking lot in the eastern district of Mittelberg, Schwendle, where we catch the alpine path (path no. 43B) and we will go uphill in the forest area, always following the rushing Wildenbach, and reach the lower and Inner Wiesalpe (1298m). The path initially remains a little steep, up to the Fluchtalpe (1390m). There the path branches off to the left (direction NO) and leads now in many serpentines 670m steeply up to a small saddle and then over to the Fiderepasshütte (2067m).

The Fiderepasshütte (2067 m) is a beautifully located DAV hut in Kleinwalsertal. The view of the past Wildental, Mittelberg, the Walmendingerhorn is just as stunning as the surrounding mountains of Elferkopf, Zwölferkopf and Kemptner Köpfle. Paths branch off there. We keep along the moon landscape of Krumbacher Höhenweg till we reach the Mindelheimerhutte.

After a short descent on the Fiderepass, the rocky ascent leads over the scree slopes below the Schafalpenköpfe to the Fiderescharte. In the steep terrain, a few serpentines ensure a pleasant ascent. In the hot summer months you can meet here with some luck on individual - mostly younger - ibex, which in the afternoon prefer the shady northern slopes. Arrived at the top of the gap, some exposed meters are insured by steel cables. Immediately afterwards, the panorama can be enjoyed carefree in the Rappenalptal and on the Allgäuer Hauptkamm in the grassy terrain. The peak prominence of the Allgäu main ridge lies before him: from the oblique edge of the Schneck over the four-summit Höfats and the Hochvogel to the Trettachspitze, which stands out like a rocky flame and has been given the nickname "Allgäuer Matterhorn". Majestically the mountains stand on the other side of the valley. The most impressive is the Biberkopf. We finally get to Mindelheimerhutte.

After a break there.finally we get back to Mittelberg through the other side of Wildental passing close to beautiful waterfalls. A long round tour close to 20 km

The total hike lenght would be about 20,7 km (1400 m altitude gain). Technically it is a medium hike but be aware we could find some snowfields close to Fiderepasshütte and Mindelheimerhutte. The pace will be medium. Estimated hiking time 9 hours. We try to catch at latest the bus from Mittelberg at 19,30 but I would like to try to catch the one at 18,30. that case we could have dinner and relax in Oberstdorf before coming back to Munich with calm but whoever hikes regularly knows it is impossible to know in advance how long it will take exactly to cover the route.

Don´t need to mention that you should not join this hike if you want to be back in Munich early ;)

Hiking Buddies Munich is not a group of professional mountain guides.

Each participant is responsible for him / herself and has to be prepared and bring suitable equipment.

Please be on time at station in the morning. We need to buy tickets and it gets very stressful for me in the morning if everyone comes at a different time. Anyway at 6,15 max we go and catch the first train.
