This is a scenic hike along the ancient route connecting northern and southern Switzerland and crossing the language border between German and Italian speaking parts. In Roman times, the route was thought to be impassable but luckily today we can rely on the great Swiss infrastructure. The hike is moderately difficult, with total height difference about 800m.

Meeting point:
We meet at Andermatt at 10:06 (train arrival time). To organize a group train journey, create a virtual "car" in the carpool, indicate the departure point and select a huge number of participants (e.g. 10). The recommended train connection from Zurich is IR 46 (8:05, Gl. 7) -> change in Göschennen to IR 44 635 (9:54, Gl. 11).
You can of course also come by car.
Hike plan
The hike starts with moderate ascent towards the Gotthard Pass along numerous lakes. In the middle of the trip we will stop in Ospizio where we either have a picnic around the lake or recharge batteries at the nearby restaurant and afterwards will start the descent. On the way down to Airolo, we will have view on the famous serpentine Tremola road that goes down 300m in 24 bends.
As some sections of the hike will be quite stoney, good hiking shoes are recommended.
