The train is at 8:56am to Salzburg. We will transfer at Prien am Chiemsee and end up in Aschau (Chiemgau). Please arrive to München Hbf station Gleis 9 at 8:40am. I will buy a Bayern ticket 15 minutes before departure for the present people. If you are not present when the ticket is purchased, you will need to buy your own. The plan is to take the train from Aschau (Chiemgau) at 17:43 back to Munich.
Kampenwand (1,664 m) is one of the most visited mountains in Chiemgau Alps. It has the largest summit cross in Bavarian alps. The summit cross was erected in 1950 to commemorate Chiemgau victims of the two world wars. In 2003, a solar system was established for the lightening of the cross. The illustration of the cross takes place on a few days per year.
We will be moving at a moderate pace (no speed hiking or running). Probably 350-400 höhen m/hr. I think there will be a little bit of scrambling so be prepared.
The Kampenwandhütte is closed for renovations so there will be no place to buy food so bring your own!
